Chinese Style Chicken and Potato Soup

If you are a fan of traditional and great tasting soups, then you have got to try this recipe for yourself.


3 potatoes, large in size and cut into cubes
1 carrot, large in size, fresh and peeled
1 turnip, chopped finely
1 onion, chopped finely
5 cloves of garlic, minced
1 chicken leg, raw
Pinch of salt and pepper to taste


Preparation time: 105 minutes
Serves: 2


Using a large sized pot over high heat, combine your potatoes, chopped carrot, chopped turnip, chopped onion, minced garlic, chicken leg and plenty of water to cover everything. Bring this mixture to a rolling boil and then reduce the heat to low. Let your soup simmer for at least 45 minutes to 1 hour, making sure that you give your soup adequate time to cook. Season your soup with a dash of salt and pepper according to your taste.

Remove your chicken leg from the soup and allow it cool. Remove the meat from the bone and return it to your pot.

Continue to let your soup simmer for an additional 30 to 45 more minutes or longer if you wish. After this time remove it from heat and serve right away.
