Chocolate Hanukkah Stars


˝ cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
˝ cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
˝ teaspoon baking soda
˝ teaspoon salt
Confectioner’s sugar to decorate


Makes: 48


Beat together butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

Separately, stir together dry ingredients (except confectioner’s sugar), then beat into creamed mixture until well blended. Cover; chill until firm enough to handle.

On lightly floured surface, roll dough to ⅛ inch thick. Cut with a Star of David shape cookie cutter. Bake at 350 degrees F for 5-7 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly. Cool for 1 minute before removing from pan.

When completely cooled, sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar.
