Sesame Carrots

Sesame seeds not only give the carrots a crunchy texture, but they are also rich in calcium and have a nutty flavour.


500 g (1 lb) carrots, cut into thin slices
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
25 g (1 oz) butter
Salt and pepper to taste


Serves: 4


Place the carrots and 3 tablespoons water in a dish, cover and cook on HIGH for 8 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking. Leave to stand for 2 minutes.

Put the sesame seeds in a shallow container and cook on HIGH for 2 minutes. Set aside.

Drain the carrots, add the butter and cook on HIGH for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and toss well.

Spoon into a warmed serving dish and sprinkle with the sesame seeds to serve.
