Kirsch is an alcoholic liqeur, it is produced from Black cherries.

For culinary purposes it is used as the flavouring for Black forrest Gateau.

It can also be used in sauces, coullis and to flavour meat dishes.:bandit:

Yes, kirsch is german for cherry, but it is also the name of the liquor distilled from cherries.
The diminuitive from the original Kirschenwasser.
